Vision
To assist in promoting sustainable innovative growth built on competitive businesses, successful people and dynamic enterprise which will ensure a vibrant business community and a wealthy economy.
Group Objective
The group will look at best practice in terms of support for innovative and entrepreneurial companies and enterprise. It aims to identify the gaps in the provision of support and information and break down the barriers to innovation, thus enhancing the success of start-ups and enterprise. Working with Business Link and the IGT’s to achieve this, the group will focus on the following three priorities as stated in the Regional Economic Strategy:
- Enabling existing businesses to adapt, prosper and grow.
- Accelerating the development of new business start-ups and improving the survival rate of young companies.
- Increasing international business activity and competitiveness.
Work Plan Priorities
The group will promote innovation and increase enterprise by furthering start-ups and business/academia/HE links. Main activities are as follows:
- To promote and further Innovation and Entrepreneurship throughout Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
- To facilitate technology transfer and links between business/academia via ‘Boot Camps’ to encourage students to start companies.
- To engage in relationships with other organisations and groups supporting innovation and to act as the link to increase companies’ awareness of innovation support and information.
- To assist innovation and enterprise programmes and events, as well as clusters and entrepreneurial groups.
- To promote the knowledge-based sector, the key to a prosperous Hampshire and the South East, and to encourage globalisation of knowledge-based companies.
Membership
The Innovation & Enterprise Task Group aims to provide an inclusive and non-competitive forum for the wide range of organisations who share the identified common purpose of promoting economic prosperity for Hampshire and the region via innovation and enterprise initiatives. The group meets quarterly.
